I've been operating under my employers authority since I'm also under his insurance. He recently just told me that I needed to purchase my own policy since our current policy is to expire this month coming up, October. My question is, do I need to also get my own CA# and/or DOT#? Or can I still operate under his authority BUT use my own insurance policy? I've been calling around trying to get insurance quotes and the agents I have been dealing with keep advising me to get my own CA# and DOT#, are they trying to dupe me?? PLEASE HELP
