What states?

 

@ElmerFudpucker runs a 4 axle and packs a spreader bar on the neck for when it is needed. He is also familiar with most states from the midwest to southeast at least, so hopefully he will have a chance to chime in.

 

Running west coast or east coast? also you need to make sure the trailer is stinger/spreader bar capable. Some trailers are not. Spreader bars are really a pain in the ###. A nitro stinger is great, but not cali legal. They are also heavy and expensive. There are used nitro and mechanical bars to be had. I bought mine used. You can also get a one piece stinger axle combo. You will carry it around a lot and not need it. When not using it you need to be able to pin it to the neck. Keeps from getting hassled about divisible load. Also you will need a long enough neck. The bar transfers weight to the drives. Without a long enough neck it will cause problems with getting weight off the drives.

a hint - you are very unlikely to be able to scale 110k on most 3/1 or closed 4 set ups across large distances.

Very true. Most 8 axles are doing good to scale 102

I ran the 2 piece Faymonville set jump and it was pretty seamless except for when making tight steered corners the booster kicked way out in the opposite direction, had to be reallly careful. This one is only 4500 lbs so only slightly heavier than my Faymonville flip axle on its own.

that being said it hasn’t been pulled in a number years, looks like hell and was modified to fit my trailer. So until I get some miles with it, it is scaring the crap put me. But, I have to go to New Mexico and can’t get it done as a closed 4 (yes I also have to go through AR so that too).
