    It should make a big difference what kind of truck. A 3' footer might work fine on top of a 389 with a flattop sleeper pulling a flatbed, not so if it's on a Crapcadia pulling a van.

    They really don't recommend any antenna less than 4 ft for the 11 meter band. They're just not as efficient or very broad banded from what I understand.

    Efficiency is inversely proportional to length relative to a 102" whip. 3' is pretty much the minimum size. 4' should be better, 5' better still, etc., but sometimes situations dictate the shorter lengths for physical reasons. Everything is a trade-off.

    Okay, I hadn't thought about it being proportional to a 102 " whip.
    I've just always heard or read that 4 ft was a minimum length. Can't tell you why off the top of my head. I do agree with the last part of your statement. I've got a 3 ft antenna on the left front of my pickups left fender, only because I didn't want the whip to damage my garage door when I pulled in at night. I've always tried to use longer antennas when I can.

    Well between long haul and local in between my treatment schedule and tryin to stash $$ to buy a home,not alot of time to sink into a full timer...Barely time just for play dates
