I’ll start off by saying I know there are a lot of horror stories about 1099 lease, I’ve done it before and honestly should have stuck it out just a little while longer to allow myself enough time to pay down the initial fees the company split up in payments.
That company is no longer hiring so it’s not an option.
My main reason to go 1099 is freedom, I’ve done drive away in the past before obtaining my cdl and stuck with that company almost 5 years. Had they paid for my cdl I would’ve stayed.
Now being 4 years into my trucking career, I’ve learned a lot about what I want and don’t want. I’ve had a few W2 jobs and I’ll be honest the one I stayed with the longest was Knight Refrigerated, when I first got my cdl and that was for a year and half.
All others I haven’t stayed with more than 11-12 months. I know it’s not a good look, but I know it’s because being told what to do and when just isn’t something that motivates me. I push hard when I am in control of my own time, and can determine my own schedule. That’s just me.
Some of you will probably tell me to get my own truck. Well in this current economy and with my current W2 job I’m barely making ends meet as is, and saving isn’t even an option for me right now unfortunately.
Next would be taxes, I know I’d be responsible for all costs and taxes at the end of the year. I really do not stress that portion too much because my tax guy is really well versed when it comes to deductions and loop holes as it pertains to 1099.
Now my question to you guys is.. what company do you know of, work for or have heard good things about when it comes to leasing?
Do they pay percentage?
Is it weekly pay?
What are the expenses like?
Looking for a decent 1099 lease option (not lease purchase)

You do know on 1099 there's not much you can write off anymore.

Check out ats dryvan division. They have a one year lease program. With a completion bonus. My bad you said lease program. I was thinking just 1099 driver.
