Next summer I am looking am looking for an opportunity to jump in the cab of a truck and ride from Portland Oregon to the east coast or east coast to Portland Oregon. I am not looking at driving, just want to come along for the ride and experience from the passenger seat. I am willing to pay/earn my way, just not sure how or who to contact, if this is even possible.

If anybody has any information that help me in my endeavor to see the US from the cab of a big rig, please let me know.

    Thanks
    Tim C

You will find that most company trucks are verboten due to insurance, liability reasons. Anything happens to you you are absolutely on your own as a liability your self. Even to the point of maiming or death if required. Passengers are not allowed on many rigs with the penalty to some drivers that they are fired on site, where is on the spot if you were seen with them.

Im not trying to be meanie. But your first day will be exciting, the next 6 will be a journey across a wasteland of are we there yet? It will be very rare trucker to take you on. And frankly a percentage of our truckers today are not going to be "Right" in the head or other ways for you. Could be a problem.

Some of the old industry in PA reminds me of Portland OR, except for the type of trees around.

    Good Luck.

would be easier for you to rent a car.

under many circumstances, company drivers cannot simply give rides. many o/o's as well are not willing to do this.

and the ones that might (owners) might be physco's.....

Geesh, are you guys trying to scare him or what. lol
Keep trying guy, I ran a double bunk truck solo when I ran the lower 48, if you are not physco and paid your own way, I would have let you ride., as long as you didn't try to p in the truck, that is. lol

    Scare?

Certainly. There is a liquor store at a alley end off Roosevelt Drive loop at the entrance to the Chicago south market. Group of 30 local toughs at the brick wall beyond liquor store.

Send passenger to get a bottle of something see what happens. Make sure you flash the big spread of money for that pack to see it...

I will never ever be there again without 6 magazines of 9 .45 and one plus 1 on hand. It's about 35 seconds of playtime.

My company allows passengers. But there is 25 dollar insurance to get on you first. No big deal.
