We charge 850 labor for a clutch job. That is 10 hr labor. Just swapping a trans is the same labor, unless you have side skirts that have to be removed.

Syn 50 oil is $28 a gallon. Most trans are 4 gallons. Then you gotta figure if you want to go ahead and replace your clutch, rear main seal, surface flywheel, etc.

Clutch has just been changed and the rear main was done at that time.
Just had a trans line chaffing and it put a hole in the line with us knowing it. -
Inland truck parts in Okc is who I deal with. If you want to go cheap try 4 state trucks. They sell them out of wrecks and would be cheaper if you wanted a different or heavier model but you would never know what it was put through. I bought one from them a few years ago for a truck I was rebuilding and never had a problem with it but I sold the truck and have no idea if it's still going

Attached, is a list of authorized rebuilders for eaton fuller: http://www.eaton.com/rr/Aftermarket/AuthorizedRebuilder/index.htm

Anyone know any places around oakland to get a rebuilt transmission.... san jose hayward and all the nearest cities ?
-
I found one in Dallas. Rebuilt.
The truck was at a Freightliner and they wanted 10.5k for rebuilt trans plus installation.
The guys I'm buying the rebuilt trans from will install it for nothing practically compared to Freighliners price.
I'm getting him to do it. 5000.00 out the door with a warranty. Less than half what freightliner wanted.
I don't see how they get away with their pricing system but I guess they do.
The truck is a Pete but they were the closest tow. -
I got a reman from eaton (thru my local kw dealer) eaton gave me an equivalent core coming from a rtlo16713a to a rtlo18718b. Parts guy called all 3 places he deals with eaton, weller, and......I can't remember the last one. The other 2 were like $5/750 cheaper on the face of it but would've charged more for the core so it came out cheaper to go direct with eaton. Also makes me a bit more comfortable knowing the manufacturer was the reman outfit.

Also: they got me a 3 year warranty on it bc I got a clutch and the oil. Vs a standard 2 year otherwise
