Hi, sorry if this is covered, still figuring out how to navigate this site. So I got my CDL A about six months ago. Had some things come up but finally looking to put it to use. So I'm looking for a good company to start with for a person with a criminal record. My felonies are 8 years old but I've had a recent simple assault which resulted in a fine. I really am trying to change, my driving record is perfect, but I have no experience other than my 160 hours at CDL school obv. I'm willing to go otr for however long and maybe even team driving. Also willing to do any type of trucking and get any endorsements I can. I just want the better paying one out of companies that may hire me while I get my year exp. Located in New Hampshire. Thank you for your time and help!

Thank you for asking the question. Someone here may be able to help you. Please understand I am not angry at you. I am NOT accusing you of anything. I want a fantastic job & future for you. And I've made hundreds of mistakes & only accidentally "got away" without harsh punisment for them.

Did the CDL school ask about your criminal record? How can it not occur to EVERY potential CDL student to ask "if X is in my record can I still find a job" before starting school?

You have 3 big hurdles, not one.
    1. You are a new CDL holder.
    2. You have 6 months since graduation. You might need refresher training because of that gap.
    3. You have felonies.

The industry is very slow (economy & season). You can probably work somewhere, but Holy Shirt Batman it may be a humdinger of a place to work.

BEGIN RANT AIMED AT THE UNIVERSE, NOT THE OP

I'm NOT frustrated at the OP. I'm so happy he's turning his life around. Many people never do that, so he's already stronger than many people. My frustration may be with society or schools or something,. How can there be so many questions like this for years? Imagine if the most common question in a car forum was "I forgot & accidentally left my baby in a parked car last summer and he passed away and was wonfering if the new Mustang can hold 2 car seats?". Can that situation really be THAT common?

Is someone telling everyone leaving prison to go to CDL school? Is someone handing out CDL school brochures at each Alcoholics Anonymous meeting? Is someone handing out those brochures at the courthouse when people pay the fine for a 20+ mph speeding ticket? Either half of these questions are just coming from Trolls or someone is handing out brochures at those locations. WTH?

It would help more if we knew your approx location.

A zip code would work just great.

I too am frustrated, as years ago, it was unheard of for anyone with any kind of legal infraction, to drive a truck. Fact is, we kept clean because it was so important. Oh sure, we've all "fallen through the cracks"( some more than others, ahem), but never thought I'd see the day, when a record of any kind would be acceptable. That was then, this is now, and some "infractions" are being tolerated. Drug convictions, even drunk driving are tolerated, but violent crimes, such as assault, are still being looked down upon. I mean no disrespect to the OP, but you have to remember, there are folks with squeaky clean records applying, and you will have to take a back seat to those folks.

If you’re in southern NH you should be able to find something around Boston I’d think. If you’re farther north it will be harder. Maybe check the state for plow work. Idk how strict they are, but I think they’re needing help fairly bad.

Try Western Express. It's a pretty good company. The pay is decent and they schedule their loads better than alot of companies
