Going to change it up again: I've been back and forth with a recruiter # Marten the last couple of days (going to hire on once the background check shenanigans are done) and she said that the Per Diem is indefinitely non-negotiable...meaning it's no choice, per diem pay until the company reinstates the option to get off of it.
Marten is a good company but with one chance rules. What that means is that you have one chance to get it right or your out of there. Case in point, I drove for Marten two months, late, after midnight, had to pick up load and at midnight, deliver it 30 miles away at 6am. Decided to drive to consignee only to find them closed and no where to park. Ended up trying to make a right turn onto a small road in the rain in the middle of nowhere, rubbed the tandems against the guard rail bending the tandems. To make a long story short they wouldn't let me sleep in the tractor, had the tow driver drop me at a motel and the following day had the tow drive tell me I was fired. My fault, I except this but kind of cold not to notify me themselves. They even told the tow operator not to let me have my cb that it belonged to them, they later changed their mind on that. Strange company, I did like working for them, too bad. Just watch your step, you may be standed out in the middle of nowhere, hope you have money in the bank for times like this.
No not yet, this just happened two days ago. I saw my pay information on the internet last night and they cut a check to another driver for $47 and billed it to me for the load I was on. I don't understand the charge and was hopeing that they would be as professional as they claim to be and not have a bunch of charges on my pay but hey, they did have a tow truck operator fire me and put me out in front of the Holiday Inn Express. Anyway, I have submitted a couple of applications and some companies will hire a driver with one preventable accident. Looking at GlenMoore right now, small 600 trucks, starts at .37 per mile, two terminals, one only 100miles from home. Sounds like the place. Crete and Shaffer said they would hire me after a year but not sure I want to go with the Big, your just a number, company again. Good Luck Saienga and keep me posted as to your progress.
