The wording on the speeding ticket is largely irrelevant in trucking to the people that matter, insurance companies. Trucking insurance companies rate 15+ mph over the limit as reckless driving regardless if the state calls it reckless or a picnic. There are always trucking companies that will hire, even if you are an escaped convict, so don't give up hope. Just because it may be difficult right now to get hired doesn't mean no company will ever hire you. DO NOT GO TO CDL SCHOOL UNTIL YOU FIND A COMPANY THAT WILL HIRE YOU, not just give a pre-hire letter or conditional job offer or whatever name the call it. Until you find that ABC Trucking of 345 Main St, Middletown, USA says they have reviewed your MVR and job history and can hire you once you have a CDL, DO NOT PAY FOR ANY CDL SCHOOL. CDL schools stay open by having students sign up for school whether they can get hired or not. ANYONE with dings in their criminal, MVR, health, job history, etc especially need to avoid paying for CDL school just to see what happens. There are too many newbies with fresh CDLs and no job, which leads to paying for a refresher course before getting hired.

Construction companies and dump truck companies have a reputation for hiring drivers with issues in their past. It can be a good strategy to for them while the issue in your record ages out and becomes less important. In fact any job that provides money while you wait for the speeding ticket to age is a good option. A job is just something you do. It's not your value as a person. Having a desire that isn't satisfied right now is not giving up on the desire, it's a delay.

A quick update for anyone that may be interested! So I appreciate all the information you guys have given thus far, I have reached out to the list of companies I have in my original post and heard back from "TMC, PAM, and CARTER EXPRESS" that my singular traffic citation showing on the MVR would not bar me from entry into their training programs. CARTER EXPRESS does not hire in Georgia though so their out. My current employment prospects are looking like "MILLIS TRANSPORT, TMC, and PAM". TMC is a year contract while MILLIS and PAM are both 6 months, I'm thinking of continuing with MILLIS and if I pop positive on their drug screening then whatever, I'll go with PAM. Both PAM and TMC both verified their drug screening it DOT Urinalysis only so I have no risk there.

Again thankyou everyone for your opinions thus far, it means a lot and I look forward to getting on the road soon hopefully!

Now you see I've seen multiple places say that only DOT regulated tests are reported to any type of database. If you fail a HAIR FOLLICE test it is only reported internally within that company and you MAY be blacklisted from them. It is not reported to DOT since hair follicle test is not 100% reliable and has a multitude of reasons for a potential false positive. I'm not saying that companies shouldn't do the test one way or the other but the information can be rather.. Conflicting.. To say the least. I personally didn't really see the hype of doing the substance mentioned in my original post, like yeah it was a nice feeling, but no nicer than being tipsy/drunk from alcohol I'd say..

Either way I'm going with the few companies I've listed before that do NOT to hair follicle testing, starting with TMC which is actually regional and will have me home weekends, though I'm going to hammer through and take weekend loads too since I don't have a family or nothing I NEED to get home to, also parking at my current residence would be.. Difficult to say the least lol.

TMC is cool to start with. That way you avoid all the hair testing. Hair testing isn't DOT reportable, but it has caused drivers issues getting jobs after failing them. I say avoid the hair test companies for at least a year. Good luck on your journey!

Yah, about popping hot.. you’ll be sol if you do.

Failing a non DOT hair follicle test is one thing..perhaps you could find a Chicago company that will never see it. Any reputable company will see you failed a pre employment and will just toss your application in the trash.

Failing a sanctioned pee test for the fmcsa and all your options are gone. You will be reported to the clearinghouse and you will have your license downgraded if you don’t go through a SAP program.
Even then your chances of finding a bottom of the barrel company that’ll hire you are slim to none. With the amount of clean drivers looking for jobs now no one will want you.

Surprised that TMC would allow someone with a 25+ fresh speeding ticket..to me it doesn’t sound accurate.

Most of the larger carriers use DAC,Hire-rite etc and would report it there for all to see..”failed pre-employment drug screen”

I'm a bit skeptical myself. Recruiters will swell up a recruits head sometimes. I'm hoping he gets a shot at redemption though. Hopefully he keeps the updates coming.

My speeding ticket is not 25+, it's 24 specifically. He told me if it was over 25 (not if it WAS 25, but OVER 25) then I would not of been hirable till at least a year had passed. They work on a points system internally is how he explained it to me, citations are based off of points, so for example my 24 over ranked 4 points on their internal hiring system and you cannot have more than 5, so if you have 6 points you would not be hired. Also, if I get ANY citations within my first year I will be fired, and fined for the remaining cost of my training if it wasn't paid off by then. Also my hiring profile will still have the 4 points on it till a year has passed since my PMV citation, hence why if I have any citation while driving for them I would be fired. Hope that clears it up for you and thankyou for the comment!
