Ran into a bit of bad luck last year. Lost my job at swift due to running over shrubs at a Costco location. I have 9 months experience OTR (S.E. Regional). Trained on automatic. 200 deliveries+ with an 100% on time record. Dac report is clean, D.O.T was never contacted nor was my mvr impacted. I have 3 points on my license from a ticket for speeding in 2016. In my personal vehicle, Which was taken care of. No arrest or record whatsoever. But still haven't been able to get a trucking job due to the firing from swift. Looking for a second chance to get back in the industry. Located in the Atlanta area.

Fill out new applications and tell them you left swift because you moved too far from their base or something. If being fired is stopping you from getting a new job you arent determined enough or are looking in the wrong place.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but even if you hadn't had the preventable and speeding ticket, I doubt any small fleets on here would be able to hire you even if they wanted to, due to your lack of experience.

Nearly all the top tier insurance companies have a hard minimum of two years, and they do check it. On the other hand, megas are self-insured which is why they can hire anyone that can fog a mirror.

I'm not bringing this up just to discourage you. More of a word of caution, because there are a lot of shady operators out there that will hire a driver like you and just not add you on the insurance policy. Then if you are involved in an accident, you can be on the hook for a lot more than you bargained for.

Just saying you need to be careful. And probably stick to applying with self insured megas where that isn't an issue. Megas are also much more likely to be running automatic equipped trucks, for what that's worth too. Keep at it. Someone will take you on.

Appreciate the response but it doesn't go like that. When you are fired for any safety reason whether big or small it does prevent you from being hired. But thanks.

Your absolutely right! I might just try to buy my own truck and go from there.

You got fired for running over shrubs? Were these rare and valuable money tree shrubs or something?

Penske will hire you if that’s all they are to the story. They aren’t that great but you will get a paycheck.
