I’m 49, female & in Louisiana. I got my CDL a little over a year ago, sat on it for a while and now want to start a company at least by the end of the year. Most companies that advertise that they hire recent grads or all CDL holders are saying I need experience. I applied at Knight transportation some months ago and they’re forever trying to find a trainer for me out of the Gulfport location. I have a good driving record, X endorsement with no restrictions. I also have a TWIC. Can anyone help me or recommend me a company? Thanks.

That's a tough spot you're in. This recession has caused many companies to close the doors and that put many experienced drivers on the market. Trucking companies put them at the top of the hiring list.

Hope springs eternal (as they say)....

Despite the crappy CDL job market -- there is still opportunity out there for recent grads with no experience.

I started with Schneider -- after almost 2 years from when I got my CDL.

    So it is doable....

We don't know your city/town/zip code in Louisiana -- but the following leads in Louisiana don't require previous experience -- & will also teach you how to drive a big rig on a professional level:

    Werner Enterprises -- hires/trains novices

OTR tanker driver -- Schneider National -- hires/trains novice drivers
