Anybody have anything good (or bad) to say about TDA Drivers? I'm thinking of attending one of them up in Northern CA and wanted some insight.

I am currently a student in Sacramento at TDA. All of my instructors thus far have been great.

Good school to get you into trucking... They have two axle trucks with sleepers and they are one of the few who take you around n a 53'. Overall experience was pleasant and I highly recommend TDA. Btw what did the DMV add to the brake and skills tests??

Thanks for the response! I like what I'm hearing. Keep them coming people

The TDA that I am attending offers two trainings. You can either apply for a sponsored course through Central Refrigerated or you can apply for the independent course a work for whomever you get hired by. Which way are you leaning?

I haven't started yet, I'm still considering option and just looking for feedback before I decide on a school.

By all means, go for it! I went through their Central Refrigerated program back in February 2011. Ted is a great classroom instructor, Alberto and Rhonda are great yard instructors and Charlie is hilarious when he comes to the yard and talks to the students. When you meet Charlie, ask him his opinion on Volvo trucks. It'll bring a good laugh. Whatever you do, DON'T talk to Stan the yard truck mechanic. Its majorly frowned upon there. Call TDA and ask for Linda or Clyde in recruiting and tell them Scott Darr sent you. They'll remember me.

I wouldn't recommend TDA to anyone the instructors are lazy and under qualified. It seemed like a truck was broken almost every other day. The instructors told me I was good to go and went to the DMV twice and failed my test.
