I started about 5 years ago with the same company I'm with now and worked my way through the lease op program until I was able to purchase my lease.
I'm married now with 2 children and looking to find something that is going to have better benefits and a better retirement plan.
I have all my endorsements and own my truck. I've always wanted to get a job at ups but never can find an opening in my area.
I'm looking to see what other companies in my area are worth looking into that I could spend the next 20 years at. The main thing I want is a company that possibly has some seniority, great benefits, and great 401k match or pension plan. Also a position that would allow me to be home daily to be with family.
Thanks
Looking to find a better route out of houston

I've seen many co's fold up over the years, co's that were strong union co's, such as CF. Without racking my brain too hard, I can think of a few still out there such as ABF (Arkansas best freight) and possibly fuel transportation such as Gemini who is Loves in house carrier I believe. My point is co's are shying away from costly benefit plans such as retirement. Unions aren't today what they were 50 years ago. UPS also comes to mind. (very strong union)
I've said this before, trucking is the transportation business. It goes 24/7 365 days a year. It's a commitment and lifestyle. Extremely hard to find an 8-5 mon-fri work schedule. Dry van or reefer, you put in the hours, gawd I miss those 2 am deliveries (just kidding ) or those day runs then a quick change to run all night load, like, hey I need my sleep, right ? But I survived it 35 plus years. So be willing to adjust to the lifestyle and have fun !Speed_Drums, Knucklehead, unloader and 2 others Thank this. -
