Hi Everyone,
I’m Kayla Casey, a young filmmaker from New York. I’m fairly new to this forum, but have been reading some of the threads in research for a short documentary I’m currently working on with two other filmmakers about how the trucking industry affects the people behind the wheel and how it’s an undervalued industry as a whole. I’m posting here because while I’m not a trucker, I’m extremely interested in learning more about the day to day experiences of truck drivers.
We’re currently looking for truckers that would be interested in taking some time out of your (no-doubt busy) schedule to chat with us and tell us your stories and experiences. It doesn’t matter if you just started or have over 20 years of experience, we’re looking for a wide range of experiences to get a bigger scope of the industry and learn as much as we can.
Meeting with us would not require being on camera or being in the documentary, but we would love to discuss that more if anyone would like to be involved in that as well. If you are interested in talking more with my co-directors (Kevin and Ben) and I, please feel free to reach out on here or email me at kcaseyfilms@gmail.com. Thank you for everything that you do for the world and I hope to hear from some of you soon!

Instead of having driver contact you, have you ever considered interviewing drivers at the drivers lounge of an y truckstop? Ain't that many driver who are gonna come to you!
rabbiporkchop, Kayla.casey and Numb Thank this. -
Head up to Scotty's Truckstop in Wilton NY for a day or two. They have a nice restaurant there with a friendly vibe and a mix of tourists , locals and truckers.
It's my favorite NY truck stop.

I contacted @Kayla.casey and did an interview with Kevin, Ben and Kayla.
They are legitimately working on this as a 'passion project', and as young film and communication graduates, are looking to shed positive light on the industry, which we can probably all agree is needed.
Google meet was used, I recorded my audio on iPhone voice recording and emailed them the file - fairly average hotspot speed connection was all that was needed. There is a consent form to be signed for permission to use the recording.
I'd encourage others to give a little time if you have a spare hour or so. -
Check out a movie called "They Drive by Night"
Kayla.casey, blairandgretchen and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.
