So “The goal of the program is to incentivize our drivers to avoid as many safety issues” is not really their goal. By their standard virtually anything (Nail in tire etc.) that happens is on you the driver. Just my opinion, and I’ll offer you no advice, what you do about it is on you too.

I would seriously consider it........but I'd have new job first.
To begin with......almost any normal person has windshield insurance.......which is another way of saying it's FREE to the company.
They're just trying to gyp you.
    Move on

    Lol

my roommate has had the winds hauled in his W-900 cracked on his very first trip with it after the company he works for bought it and got it upfitted for their flatbed heavy haul.

he’s since cracked two or three more .

but that companies safety bonus is don’t have too many accidents or get too many speeding tickets and you can keep your job .

how much is your safety bonus ?
Much be large if there’s enough to deduct a windshield from it

and why did you text and ask ?

instead of just wait and see ?

and yea , I’d begin to start sniffing around for another job .

@Chinatown on here can help you find one .
If you have haz mat and tanker and doubles triples and twic , you can easily make $85-100k and be home nearly every day , or every week , hauling fuel or cryogenic.

my roommate made $97k last year doing heavy haul flatbed RGN and was gone every weekend and off for a total of 8 weeks during the year when their business was slow .

I’d probably be on the lookout for something different if they’re that worried about a windshield crack. That would make me wonder what all criteria need to be met in order to get the full safety bonus.

Up in NJ it’s normal to get a windshield chipped once every 2-3 months. Dump trucks always going 85mph flying by and seem to pass you just before the bump where a rock comes off their bed and goes straight to your windshield.

Unless the windshield chip, looks like a hammer smashed it. I don't feel any cost should be put on the driver.
Hard to leave the job over this, if it's a good, secure job.
If it's not a good job, time to start looking for one.

I would say you're doing yourself a favor by not working for scumbags like that
