Thanks to everyone replying in advance. I need help with my
    2000 freighter cat 12 engine
When driving the engine stops running for a very minute second then continues and gets power back at which sometimes stalling completely. Rare but has happened time to time down the road. I noticed in the loss the rpm gauge revs up higher during the hiccup. I have no clue and never had a big truck before. Any ideas please let me know. I'm starting with changing out the 2 fuel filters.

Does this happen after a bump in the road. It sounds like you're having a dead short in the electrical system.

Usually when filters get dirty they stay plugged up.

I had a 2001 freightliner classic that had similar problem. It didnt have a cat but engine type mat be irrelevant. Turned out to be the metal thing under the top of the battery box was loose. It would short on the battery. I was way up north and thought I was gonna be stranded. Turned out to be an easy fix. Check your grounds as well.
