Well that will get your attention! I heard a very loud air pressure blast under the cab and the low air alarm sounded off instantly. i was passing and had to slow to get behind that truck and to the shoulder.
1) all pressure was lost to the secondary air tank
2) the primary tank maintained 110 psi
3) the wheels on the truck/trailer never locked up
4) we are empty
Once on the the shoulder I called my mentor who recommended seeing if the trailer was locked. The trailer wheels were free so we crawled @5mph down the shoulder of interstate 2 miles to a truck stop. Each time I used the brakes the primary tank lost pressure and never regained any pressure back.
We parked in front the f the repair bay with 60 psi in the main air tank and zero psi in the secondary air tank.
still waiting for the repairs but happy to be in a safe location
Lost air pressure to Secondary air tank at 70mph today

Your air dryer? You could/can take the line off running to the secondary tank and see if there is any pressure building. If none, then it may be your air dryer. I hope im explaining that correctly....

Or your suspension(which im sure you would hear that leak)Nahbrown, LoneRanger and tscottme Thank this. -
Glad to learn you're ok -- & you were able to make it (under your own power) to a nearby safe haven.
Keep us updated on what you learn of all this, later....

Secondary tank is for accessories. If your primary drops below 90? It will stop feeding the secondary tank.TripleSix, Nahbrown and silverspur Thank this.

The problem was a failed brass quick connection under the truck. It took all day because the Loves we limped to didn’t have anyone available and it was hard to find.
Diesel Dave, Rugerfan, Albertaflatbed and 4 others Thank this. -
Learn about your air system and how everything works. Carry assorted sizes of quick connect fittings (push fittings).
There’s a reason they’re called quick connect
Simple stuff you need to learn so you’re not wasting time and money. Most of those fittings will fail over time and if they’re old will leak more and more in cold weather.
Was something you probably could have handled on a 30 minute break.TripleSix, Oldman83, Albertaflatbed and 6 others Thank this. -
I'm sure I could've hacked together a fix with enough fittings and line. It wouldn't be pretty, though... You would probably be surprised how long duct tape and hose clamps can hold 120 psi....

How much did it set you back ?Concorde Thanks this.

The only brakes you lost were the steer axle. They are usually on the secondary as a fail safe so the truck at least has them if the primary goes. Thats just one of the rules of the 121 brake reg.
TripleSix, hope not dumb twucker, Nahbrown and 1 other person Thank this.
