In the 80's there was outfit the started with an 'M' that did this for subscribed fleets... Marquart???

Anyway, there'd be an M sticker on your trailer, and these Barney's would flag you down for a safety check. Royal PITA.

 

"M" is for Markel Safety Services. Scum of the earth.

IFTA ended most of the quirky stuff and when it went on-line it became even better.

IRP shifting to issuing all 48 and the provences instead of the original "pick, add,loose" our states method and IFTA on line have made things much easier.

I spent many hours typing those Bingo cards [Uniform Cab Card was the oficial name] and applying the stamps; not to mention the half day it took to clean out and complete any team's permit book and scrape some of the old decals before applying the current decals that were laying in the permit book.
