Or one seeks out a better paying option, then the company needs to adjust to keep their labor from leaving... Companies need to compete for labor just like any other resource used in the process... Resources flow to the highest bidder... If more drivers would "vote with their feet" and move to a better paying opportunities then the companies would need to adjust ... Or just strike... Good Luck.

I don't know much about anything, but most grocery/foodservice warehouses hire a lumper service because they're NOT union. My facility does the exact same thing and I can tell you that we would run a lot more efficiently if they let the union guys unload the freight. The lumpers don't give a rat's behind how long it takes because they're getting paid peanuts to break freight.
On another note, we're currently in contract negotiations, our deal expires on June 4th. The company's proposals are insulting and I can vouch that all the drivers want is to work for a fair price.born&raisedintheusa Thanks this. -
