You're right having a $1500 cushion is a good thing, truth be told a larger one would be better. I have a cushion that is many multiples of $1500 but it's not sitting in an escrow account, some of it's invested earning ME money, not someone else. Some of it sits in a bank for emergencies and some of it is cash in my billfold to play with

See, that 1500 is not an escrow, no matter how often these crappy companies try and repeat that lie. Its simply a loan to the company. To be an escrow, it would need to be held by a 3rd party.

I would agree. I would rather save the money myself, instead of an employer arbitrarily taking it from my check. Does one get this "escrow" back, should one decide to end employment there?
