Correction, they handed out a raise because they cant retain drivers, they cant find drivers to replace the lost drivers, every other company is raising pay because its a drivers market, and lastly, we are earning it by saving fuel. Like you said, its one of their biggest cost.

I havent turned down a load yet, but ill probably reserve that right for that area. I absolutely hate that area. Fire bomb it.

Industry wide, pay is going up for the most part. With some drivers retiring rather than put the elog leash on their truck, and a lack of interest from new people coming into the industry, it's starting to become a driver's market. I paroose the want ad's from time to time and a starting pay of $0.50/mile for 1 year use to be rare, but isn't uncommon now. There was one Hazmat van carrier earlier this week that was offering $0.60/mile to start which is where we moved to last month over here. I'm not sure the per mile rates will be able to go up much more, but a couple other incentives that would increase the driver pool would be a set minimum pay guarantee (or salary) and a the company paying a higher percentage of a drivers health insurance premium would help...but that's just my opinion.

@Oor you live in the perfect spot to maximize the benefits at Magnum and that’s a good thing. For some the changes take away the benefits and make Magnum much like any other large company thus the large number of departures lately.

It’s still a great place to start your career, but for 3year plus drivers more choices are opening up...

I think I’d lock my truck up and hide in it.

Oor, I beg to differ....that $4800 that you quoted isn’t a raise! It’s an opportunity at bonus pay. A raise would have been just that, an additional increase from say .50 cpm to .54 cpm and then possibly earning the additional $4800. Anyway, the frog soup is still warm and if I add enough seasoning it is still edible:)

Half way between me and where I pick up next there is a truck wash. It is appropriately named Midway Truck Wash. Name checks out.

    :D it's the simple things

I consider it a raise because I scored half of it in a month with four or five blizzards and without even knowing what the heck the metrics were. Didn't have to change a thing I do.

    Zata40 Thanks this.
