Magnum is sending me on a train to pick up my truck in Spokane this weekend. They also got a ticket for my wife to come along. We then return to Fargo to move all our stuff. This will be my first trip on a train, so I'm excited!
mattbh23, CJ701 and runningman0661 Thank this. -

Hopefully the train has a sightseeing car. Comfy seats facing out instead of forward and huge windows....
I like the train... you have 0 responsibilities except to be on board when it leaves a stop....Last edited: Jan 3, 2019

I thought checking into the train terminal was going to be similar to checking into an airport. Checked in 3 hours early. Took 30 seconds. We're the only fools here waiting this early! Lolmattbh23, CJ701, WesternPlains and 1 other person Thank this. -
They gotta go through all this BS on airport security. All they had to do is listen to the Israeli’s. Put a bucket of pigs blood in each plane. No Muslim terrorist would go anywhere near one of those planes.

Hey all- Got my offer letter from Magnum and really looking forward to getting started. I’m especially looking forward to the balmy weather, fruity drinks, swim suits around the pool, and sun tan in Fargo in January. My letter offers 36cpm as the beginning pay after training which seems a little low considering some folks in this thread reporting that they’re making good money and over $50k/yr. Do you all receive a lot of accessorial pay that’s being factored into checks to get you above $50k because otherwise I’m only coming up with $900/wk gross for 2500 miles ($46.8k/yr). Obviously, there will be higher mileage weeks...just using 2500 as an easy average number. Also, the sign on bonus is paid out over 15 months...do you know when / how much each chunk is distributed? Thanks in advance for the feedback! I’m looking forward to seeing you all on the road!
CJ701 Thanks this. -
You'll start at .36. I would ask Tony how it works now. But when I got here 2 years ago I was at .36 for my first 6 months. Then you move to the Magnum big leagues, which now works like this:
===============
Years of Magnum service:
1-.46cpm
2-.47
3-.48
4-.49
5-.50cpm
Mileage bonus:
9500+ .01cpm
10500+ .02cpm
11500+ .03cpm
Hazmat bonus:
+.01 on all miles + .05 for hazmat loads
Cruise bonus:
70% +.02cpm
60% + .01cpm
Idle bonus:
Under 10% +.01cpm
Under 15% +.005cpm
=============
The monthly bonuses are pretty significant. My last bonus was $600. All on one check. Take that number with a grain of salt. Everyone's bonuses are different. Mine also vary month to month.
With the sign on bonus, it would be best to talk to Tony. I believe it starts small after you finish orientation and the payments keep increasing.
Don't be afraid to call Tony. He's a good guy and a former Magnum trainee, driver and trainer! He keeps in touch with drivers and isn't one of those pushy scam artists some companies have as recruiters. He has the current specific details to all this stuff and has the power to make things work.flint1760, referee, dwells40 and 1 other person Thank this. -
A year ago it was 75$/day training. 36cpm for first 3 months, 38cpm 3-6 months, then it went performance pay. First 100$ sign on was after training, first month, then it shells out every 3 months in increments till you hit 15 months. Each amount is higher than the last. Your new hire packet will explain it all, or you can ask Tony. If you run hard, 3k miles a week is easy if you pick the right runs when youre on your way back in.
