In that area, my guess would be wind played a factor...this time of year there are usually heavy gust coming through there.

Ice for sure, along the Columbia River in the Dalles. Its one of our favorite drives but not in winter. We had been lucky. Cabbage was where it's at. Never mind anything else.

Ice and a strong crosswind are a fairly common dangerous combination out there, it’s a plausible cause in this case, but I haven’t heard anything else yet. Not that I’m heading that way, anyway, I’m in Lewiston and heading north after I finish offloading here. But figured I’d share since it’s a heavy route for truck traffic.

...and apparently things are quickly deteriorating here in southern Washington/northern Oregon. Just got another update over the Qualcomm about US 97, a combination of snow and freezing rain, the plows are out but quickly losing ground. Yay.

I don’t think it’s ice related because otherwise traffic is flowing at normal speeds well east and west of the crash site. Maybe just another driver who doesn’t know how to drive on wet roads.
