Stop with the excuses...speed limiters didn't have one thing to do with this accident...the cause is simple..driver following too close and driving too fast for conditions....

no excuses, i didnt remotely try to assign the cause of this mess

    you did

i merely said that speed limiters will only increase these types of accidents because more trucks will be traveling in packs, and no one will pull on the side of the road because they will have elogs forcing them to keep going

i have no idea what caused that mess, i wasnt there, i have no problem stopping, or not even going out when i know the weather is bad, no one rushes me to complete any load, i have enough time to delay any load i get

i dont have a computer telling me when to stop, sleep, eat, or how fast to drive

but if i get caught out in bad weather, i drive accordingly, to keep myself and those around me safe

Wow, after seeing the video and pics I'm amazed the worst injury was a broken arm.

First of all speed limiters don't cause acidents. People cause acidents. Also veteran drivers cause just as many acidents the same rate as new drivers why due to being over confident. How about all the following to close I see every day an that has nothing to do with speed limiters. It's people driving unprofessionally. Why does FMCSA pass so many rules we always say on this forum well that is due to drivers of trucks be unprofessional an driving unsafe. Thier is no reason to be in a 55 mph zone an do 65 mph an tail gate a 4 wheeler but guess what I see this being done by fellow truck drivers on a daily basis. So let's all stop the finger pointing an fix our industry so FMCSA will not have excuses to get pass rules

I've driven trucks with speed limiters, and without, paper logs and the box. Guess what? None of this causes accidents....it's just a convienient excuse

Someone asked the rhetorical question "Why does this seem to be happening more and more?"
Maybe some of the stats from this webpage from the US DOT will shed some light on it:

    http://www.rita.dot.gov/bts/sites/r...ansportation_statistics/html/table_01_11.html

In 1960, just as the interstate hwy system was being built there were this many registered vehicles on US Highways: 74,431,000
In 2010, with the interstate highway system completed( approx 50,000 miles) but very little other highway construction: 250,070,000

My friend that is an increase of 350%. There are lots of vehicles to get banged together on the same # of miles of highways.
