I worked for Marten for 20 plus yrs and left in 2010. Back when the old man Roger Marten was alive things were great. I was a company driver and owner operator and made huge money running east to west. I still communicate with a lot of the big wigs there and know Randy very well. He doesn't care anymore about the company other then collect a check and not to mention his sister collecting money even though she never had any thing to do with the company. That's just the way Roger Marten set it up before he passed away. The funeral was very nice. In DeSoto, Tx Alison G is a good friend and she is very disappointed in the way things have happened to the company going down the drain. But what can one do? Randy will ultimately sale the company to Knight which as you know is Swift. As far as retire from there good luck. Although I worked there for 20 plus yrs it was time to leave. Drivers remember that at Marten your just a number. That's why they don't even bother cleaning the trucks especially in DeSoto because they just don't care. Morale in the corporate office is very bad and Randy is just setting things up so he can sale the company to Knight Transportation/Swift. Believe it or not you will see. I run with a great company and blessed to make over 100k as a company driver. Four more yrs and I'm done. I wish all those Marten guys the best. The old school guys left before things went down the drain.
If it and when it happens then I’ll look for a job elsewhere. Right now the home time policy change has come to a head with a lot of drivers, and they are not happy. As it stands Western Express has a better home time policy than Marten does-And that is downright scary!
It's to bad to see Marten turn into another SWIFT like environment. Most of the fleet managers came from Knight and Swift. I hope drivers start looking elsewhere because the writing is on the wall. Randy Martin is not the Randy of old. Driver turn over rate is staggering to say the least. Hope the drivers that are still working there see the light..
