I agree that if you want the control of "running outlaw" that you should just buy yourself an old cabover and hit the open road with your own #'s. Nice meshback hat, skin tight wranglers, flannel shirt and shiny cowboy boots wouldn't hurt either...

But seriously, the best thing you could do for yourself and the industry would be to get yourself a truck and #'s then only haul the best paying freight you can find. Anybody can haul sub $2 loads at max hours burning fuel and tires while benefiting everyone but themselves and fellow truckers. A decent person with a business plan and care for the future of the industry would haul good paying freight where the revenue for a 500mi. day would outweigh the revenue for a 750mi. day.
I use excel spreadsheets to input my expenses and loaded/unloaded miles to decide what loads are the best use of my time. If I just ran as many miles as possible my profits typically go down.

Running as many miles as possible with disregard for rates is just a race to the bottom in my opinion.

Yep working smarter not harder. Let the cheap stuff sit. I have no idea why in this age someone would wanna run outlaw. With all the big tech out there that can easily hang you by your balls if caught is just beyond me

Shoot, I'll lease you a early 80's cabover pete for a mere $1,200/week for an easy 2 year payoff. I'd even supply the wranglers, meshback, flannel and cowboy boots.
You would need your own authority of course which is just $300 as I hear and then you could sign up to haul for Amazon on their load board at $1.30/mi.
Sure the rate seems low but if you run 18hr days on paper logs you could make a killing!

Mmmmm. So a company wants to clean things up and you're ready to leave. If you have to run outlaw constantly to make money, then you don't know how to work.

Even in paper log days, drivers didn't get home all the time. What's with this prototype for a trucker? I admit, I do wear slide ins. I'm going to be comfortable while I drive. As far as a computer running your life, did you not type your post on one? Just saying...

Ask and you shall receive.....now whether it's the answer the OP looks for is another question. Now when he admittedly runs outlaw, and is looking for a company that does the same, what do you expect? Here's a constructive answer: 1099 companies in Chicago. They're outlaw as hell, no cameras, wide open, maybe questionable exhaust.
