    I have a 2007 M2 106 rollback. Mercedes engine has 700,000 miles on it.
Do you have a switch on dash for off/on?
Do you run with it on all the time?

Check the Solenoid Connection: The exhaust brake air solenoid is typically located on the firewall
or near the engine block. Visually inspect the electrical connector to ensure it is fully plugged in,
the locking tab is secure, and there are no signs of corrosion or pushed-out pins.

Measure Solenoid Resistance: Using a digital multimeter (DVOM), unplug the solenoid
and measure the resistance across its two pins. If the reading is open (infinity) or
out of the standard manufacturer spec (e.g., \(9-12\ \Omega\)),
the internal coil in the solenoid is dead and it must be replaced.

Trace the Wiring Harness: Check the wiring from the solenoid plug
back to the chassis hub module (CHM) or engine ECM.
Look for rubbed-through insulation, pinched wires, or loose/corroded pins in the harness connectors.

Perform a Continuity Test: With the ignition off and the harness disconnected at both ends,
test the continuity for each wire to the ECU using a multimeter.
If there is no continuity, you have a broken wire that needs to be repaired

    Mechanical Inspection
If the wiring and solenoid test perfectly, the electrical fault may stem
from a jammed mechanism causing the solenoid to draw improper current.
    • Locate the air-actuated butterfly/gate valve in the exhaust pipe after the turbocharger.
    • Disconnect the air cylinder linkage and try to move the valve butterfly by hand.
    • It should spring back freely.
    • If it is seized or sticky from carbon buildup and rust, manually free it up and lubricate the pivot points with a high-temperature exhaust brake lubricant.

the butterfly valve was cut out previously. the air line at the solenoid is capped off. does the butterfly valve and actuator need replaced??

    Sorry, just saw this.
You mean "cut out" like - removed?
the computer is still looking for
    confirmation the coil is working.
You may have to have someone "fix"
your computer to stop error code if the DEF is removed.

Doesn't make sense to remove an exhaust brake,
they really save on brake pad wear, especially in hills.

If it was me I would replace everything back to OEM.
