Any idea what it would be worth?
    Contract carrier authority.

It's worth the exact same $300 a new one would cost you if it has no good contract freight and/or equipment with it. No-one cares how old an MC number is.

Thought that for someone getting started an older number might be better as brokers are hesitant on new numbersfrom what I've read hete.

I’ve been turned down three times by brokers wanting more age on authority since I started three weeks ago. I always found a good paying load within a few minutes after that. No sweat.

I even had a broker tell me they needed 90 days then proceed to work with me anyway because they needed the load moved.

Like @rollin coal said, it would be valuable only if it included your customer contacts and/or your established business and equipment.

Well the equipment gone and my contacts have probably all retired or died.

In that case I think we’re slowly closing in on putting an actual cash value of $0 on these numbers.

Who knows.. may be worth advertising them for $5-10k. Then just talk some young, dumb wannabe entrepreneur into their worth.

There’s plenty of them who post here.

In the classified section of this forum there's usually 1 or 2 people a month trying to buy old MC numbers. So the suckers are out there for sure. Maybe post your MC for sale in the classifieds and see what happens.

It's hard enough for someone just starting out. I wouldn't want to take advantage of someone like that.
