There I was, cruising along I-80 westbound a few miles west of Elko, Nevada, when I happened upon this white Volvo that ended up in the median.
No police or wrecker had arrived yet, so I stopped to see if the driver was ok. He noticed I had stopped and got out of his Volvo. He was ok. Even his tractor was still running, which surprised me considering the median terrain was so ruff.
I asked him what happened and he said his truck had slid off the road. The trailer tandems were messed up and there was a loud hiss coming from either the 5th wheel or the drives. Landing gear looked ok, though. Didn't see any evidence of damage to the ribs or trailer floorboards at a cursory glance.
There had been a snow squall alert for the Elko area at 2230 warning of possible whiteout conditions. Maybe this driver encountered that or perhaps he may have been driving with his foot on the dash.
Just east of mm 274 on I-80.
Meanwhile, on I-80 in Nevada
