Dan.S Thanks this. -
Is he, or you, going to be willing to tarp/un-tarp in the wind, rain, snow, ice, cold, heat, on most loads? @stwik can let you know more about that stuff. Chain and or strap every load. Flatbed is night and day from reefer. The hours are better but it's a lot of work.Last edited: Mar 14, 2018

You two will learn to embrace the suck. Or, you will quit within the first three months, maybe six. It takes a few months for flatbedding to settle in. It's not just bumping a dock at different yards -- there's more complexities to it. Far more regulated than most would believe.
The good news is... if you two start sometime in April. You'll have practically a year before the weather really gets rough again. I rather battle dehydration than hypothermia. I started two months before winter came and it was a doozy at times... got a lot of "first loads" during the winter months and just had to suck it up with the snow and muck.
Flatbedding is a niche thing. Some love it. Others can't run away fast enough. It's not all glory. If you're in it for the sights and money Heyl could be a better fit.Last edited: Mar 14, 2018
