I finally hooked up my Palomar today, God that thing makes me sound like I'm shouting.
I can finnAly whisper "I ain't got no panties on" the 636 hated me whispering.
At least I got used to the odd transmit button quickly.
I do like the 636 a lot better....

    rabbiporkchop Thanks this.

The 577 sound good to me, but it's a power mic right ? For the money, the SRA 198 is the way to go. I returned my SL41.

Turner stood out to me.. Could be a bit louder and sounded a tad better cause of the lack of a breathy kind soud with the s's but had a bit of a dull sound at the same time..
Im surprized that the rest didnt sound all that different from one another..
Think when home again ill compare a stock 955 mic and two generations of 636 and my ranger mic..

You don't have to run the mic gain all the way up with an out of the box palomar. I turned mine down.

rabbiporkchop, tucker and CW Spook Thank this.

I thought if I turned my mic gain down I would lose transmit distance....

Only if it was fully modulated to begin with. You would need a scope to make that determination.

Turner sounded the best...A good tech can tweek a radio to a specific mic to add to over all audio

It's hard to find a guy that can consistently make a radio sound like this every time regardless of what kind of radio it is. Notice Quack Quack on the Tijuana border? His sounds virtually identical. I forgot all about this recording.
