Miles fluctuating with my company? Is this normal?

Definitely a good pick if he’s in western KY. There were a bunch of times they’d just tell me to route through home in Bowling Green if I wanted. Got a bunch of impromptu home times for 34-48 hours without interrupting workflow or actual requested home times. Paducah area would be even easier

Generally speaking, the long trips I'm seeing on the board go into somewhere where's there's little freight coming out.Your dispatch has to balance that all out, long or short trips.Keep asking for longer trips.

That’s a fairly common complaint, but here lately I’ve been seeing people say that’s by design since apparently the short runs are more profitable for the company.

Id say that's an indicator that the company runs for is using the load boards only, one of the drawbacks of working for those smaller local companies at times.

It’s a weird psychological thing that goes on with this low miles thing. Sometimes we beg for Mercy we want to slow week so we can get off the truck do something maybe get a hotel whatever. But then when it actually happens, you get bored and you want to keep driving. I go through this psychological effect many times myself. I prefer to run hard, but also realize you don’t always feel the fatigue creeping in until it’s too late. Until it sneaks up on you. So if you’re having a week that’s 3000 miles a happy medium for the next week might be 2000 miles. 1500 it’s just too low you’ll get bored. And when you get bored, you start spending money and you’re making less at 1500 miles. You need to go to your driver manager and give him a little nudge. Some weeks I’ll do 4000-4200 miles on one 70, but then I’m ready for a day or two off. If I run 2500-3000 weekly I can go indefinitely.

For those drivers that want to run non stop, that burn out is the reason for a 34. I'll run hard but as long as I can get a 34, or have days in which i can wake up without having to set an alarm.

Lot of Tanker stuff around Cincinnati, that everyone overlooks because it ain't Chicago or Houston.

But if you lived around there, it could be beneficial.
