I recently got into a very minor accident where I am at fault.
The chrome front bumper of the semi got bent outwards partially.
Police called it in. I'm wondering what next steps I should do (if I don't have to involve the insurance company, the better). The trucker said he called dispatch which will contact the insurance co.
What would you suggest? I have the trucking companies contact.

If it was a large trucking company, they may be self-insured, so contacting their safety department and working out payment for the damages you caused might work.
If they are a smaller company, they will have their insurance company contact yours to get the damages resolved. A call to them today might give you a chance to head off them calling your insurance carrier. Be prepared to fork over the requested cash, as truck parts are expensive.

    Thank you very much.
Calling the safety dept. worked out and we negotiated over the part that needed fixing.

Did you report the incident to your own company? Many companies have a policy that if you don't report within 24 hours that's grounds for immediate termination.

    Oxbow and x1Heavy Thank this.

I don't necessarily believe the op drives truck. No evidence of it in the original post.

If he doesn't, then he should not do a thing, let his insurance company handle all of it.

Exactly. Why cause more issues when there doesn't need to be.

All of my wrecks that I cannot fix with a 20 dollar bill or a meal etc are called in within a hour. The flak I get back ranges from a docking in pay all the way to lawsuiting by the victims which happened twice. One was settled for a new car and the other was laughed out of court because the victim was actually in breach of his company policy among other things.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.
