I have A question, can somebody please help me to make sense of this situation that I have come to,
I have been working for this company for around 12 months already,I do delivery's at night,they call them key drops,
so the other night I misread the manifest, and I put some of the product in the wrong area it was my first stop. first
time ever delivering to that stop, got written up for it,well to make a long story short,
would you define this as "INSUBORDINATION" even throw no supervisor told me face to face,or over the phone,
directions on how to do this stop, so I find it hard to define this as insubordination, and lose your job over it.
Like I said I misread the paper work, first time ever doing something like that ,never missed a day of work and never late,
and for nine months I worked six day a week for this company, twelve fourteen hour shifts and that's the thank's I get.

Well, if the instructions were written on the BOL and you did not follow, then it falls on you. Past performance has no relation to present failure.
Now, one mistake is not actually a reason for dismissal unless the company lost a customer because of the mistake. Or the value of the product lost due to your inability to read and comprehend instructions exceeds your worth to the company.
Take it as a lesson learned. Move on and remember, next time read the instructions until you understand what is required of you.

You can be the best employee they have ever had and work there 10 years; then one mistake and you're a dirtbag. Find another job and don't look back.
I saw a driver get fired for having his shirt tail out. Been working there for years and never tucked his shirt in because of his pear shape. Nothing was ever said about it all those years. Terminal manager was in a bad mood and fired the guy.
Don't ever think a company is one big family, because they aren't. Don't ever make the mistake of thinking, "I want to be a name, not a number", because that's not reality, it's just some foggy dream.
You just got a dose of the real world from that company.
but he was on my back riding me because I wasn't as fast as he wanted to be,so in other words he had me on his radar and I guess he was waiting for me to do something wrong to terminate me,and that was the first thing
that I did well I was still under the radar,I don't mind if that's the case I don't goof around anyway's I do my job then go home I try to stay out the way.but I was just wondering is that enough to terminate somebody,
it's a union job that I'm talking about.
I would fight this in a professional manner if at all possible....unless the job sucked to begin with.
You said it was a "union-job" are you a member ? If so the term "Insubordination" which really means an employer can fire you Anytime, for Anything and for any reason ! That is why workers pay union "dues" because this is a union fight and you would need to contact the shop steward. If you are not part of that union then you chances are slim to none as company's almost alway's back their Supervisors. Been there Done that simply because my supervisor did not LIKE me PERIOD !
You need to grieve this. I can't believe the union didn't automatically step in. That's their job.
Sounds like you've been canned already, so using the steward is pointless. You need to call your local and have your agent handle this. Even if you did commit a fireable offense, you still have a right to representation under your CBA.
