At least it's not one sided. If they miss putting your can on a train that was delivered on time they will give a credit....

 

So if a truck arrives on time, and they aren't loaded/unloaded in 30 minutes or less, the trucking company should fine UPRR. If the railroad thinks it's OK to fine trucks for delays, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. Delays at the rail terminal affect the efficiency of the trucking operations.

 

No, that isn't fair. They can still leave you sitting there for 3 or 4 hours as long as the container makes it onto the train. That's bull excrement. If they were going to pay demurrage starting at 15 or 30 minutes after an on-time arrival's scheduled appointment, THEN it would be fair.

If they're going to fine you for being late, they need to pay when you're on time and they drag their feet...whether the container makes the train or not.

 

Havimg dealt with railroads this doesnt surprise me... If you have a railcar delivered to your faculty and dont release it back to the railroad on time they charge you demarage.... BUT, if you NEED railcar delivered to you on a very specific date and the railraod fails to get it to you on time your S### out of luck. The railroads run on thier own schedule and no one else's. Period!
