You betcha. At least when I left they were. Basically its a one time fee up front, can't remember how much, and $36 per month dues or something like that. I thought the union was worthless, they'd help if you were fired wrongly, but the union usually sides with the owners. And most drivers never attend union meetings to vote.

I don't know about Monson, but if you're by Duluth there's a company in Superior called Halvor Lines that can't be beat. I'd be checking them out if I lived up there.

I worked for Monson for 7 weeks then was laid off. They never had a lay off in before in their 80 years in buisiness. Shortly after they went out of business all together. Halover lines is still going strong. I see their trucks all the time and have heard good things about them.
