Killing the Vegas Pipeline
I forgot about this last year, but chalk one up for the little guys. -
The east is drowning, the sea water is rising.
yet no one wants to either build a pipeline or desalination plants. You know to reduce the sea levels?
but hey if water shortage was real, prices would have gone up for lack of and causing a massive influx of investors to build said pipeline to make money off the southwest.
But since no one is doing anything means there isn’t profit in it, further meaning there isn’t a shortage.dwells40, drvrtech77 and buddyd157 Thank this. -
They spent roughly $330m over the course of 30 years trying to get a pipeline so they could drain aquifers in Utah and Northern NV in order to get water to Vegas only to get shut down finally. That’s a fairly sizable investment by one group. They just want everyone to keep thinking there isn’t an issue so that they keep flocking to live in the desert where people aren’t meant to live. If they would’ve gotten the pipeline they wanted then Northern NV would’ve been the modern day Owens Valley.

Most of Northern Nevada gets water from the Truckee River.
Southern Nevada gets water from the Colorado River which gets its water from snowpack melt of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado.

There’s more to Northern Nevada than just Reno and Sparks getting water from the Truckee basin. Even though they got the big pipeline stopped there are still efforts to pull water from the Humboldt River basin to pipe to other areas that the residents and farmers and ranchers are fighting. They are determined to move water into the desert and hopefully those in Northern Nevada and Western Utah who’s livelihoods depend on it can keep getting them stopped.
