They just need more ELDs, speed limiters and less HOS available. More rules, regulations and laws will surely fix this mess the Feds have created.

I still don't understand how people loose their brakes or even smoke their brakes on Monteagle...it isn't that steep or that long.

About 4 miles, it’s real fun with permitted isotank grossing 100k with no jakes.
As long as you know how to traverse a mountain it’s easy.
Trainers/schools don’t teach mountain driving anymore, the ones I trained didn’t know anything except what the book says, hit brakes. slow down 10 mph, release til you gain 5 then hit and release.
That’s what gets them killed, as it allows brakes to get air and heat up.

Now the million dollar question of the day is: Did the driver stop at the brake inspection area before starting down the grade? As in actually pulling in,stopping the truck before going down? There is a surveillance camera that looks at that area to make sure trucks are doing just that, and rest assured DOT is reviewing it. If the driver didn’t,there’s going to be some explaining to do!

####heads were doing this looong before ELDs... why do you think the ramps exist in the first place?

If I had a nickel for every time I sat at a green light at the pull off..while a few super truckers blew by me in the other lane...I’d be livin on the beach with servants

How many drivers even know what they're supposed to be checking for at a brake check?

But it's soooooo satisfying when you watch one get pulled over because he didn't stop. The good folks in Tennessee don't appreciate people snubbing their hospitality.
How much do you suppose the ticket is?

    MartinFromBC and mjd4277 Thank this.
