I recently bought a 2007 W900L with a C-13 Cat. Ten speed overdrive and 3:36 rear. Running about 1400RPM's at 65MPH. Only two tanks of fuel but MPG look about 5.8. I would like some suggestions on improving fuel mileage. I know the W900 has the aerodynamics of a brick but I like the looks and ride of the truck. Need to do the easy and cheap thing first and ones that won't void my warranty. Thanks for all the help.

Also I have a 1998 Volvo VNL with a 12L Detroit that I am parting out. In frame done Nov. 2009. New air exchanger. Rebuilt head. New steering box and arm. Phil

Am not 100% sure, but you will probably need to dig out the serial number or at least let these guys know if it was built in '06 w/o the Diesel Particulate Filter or actually in '07 w/ the DPF.

open the exhaust up. Get a better tune like from PDI, Bully Dog or Mr Haney. The tune will make the most differance.
I have a 06 W9 with 3.55 rears. I can get 7 if I drive it real easy 6 if I run it hard and usually get about 6.4 to 6.6. Thats with a C15 ACERT.

It is a 06 motor with no Diesel Particulate Filter. I know the exhaust is one of the first things to change but I don't want a loud truck. I saw a post on here where they replaced the mufflers with 180 degree straight through pipes. I wonder how loud that would be?

What are you hauling? We have a T800 with a C13, 10spd, 3:70's on X-Ones. Only pulls a hopper (easiest trailer to pull) and it just got 7.5mpg. All stock except for a straight through muffler.

The Pittsburgh power mufflers will not make it louder.
