Occasionally I'll see guys on here claiming that they're doing 850+ miles a day, and the first thing that comes to my mind is, you didn't do it legally, at least not using an ELD.

Over the last month I've done some loads from California to the Midwest. In the western US (other than the west coast) we have wide open spaces and high speed limits. My truck maxes out at 75mph and my personal best in this truck was 759 miles in an 11 hour shift. So even though I can generally go 75 mph, speed variations such as hills, truck scales and construction zones brought my average speed down to 69 mph.

On a previous job with paper logs, I went as high as 875 miles on some days in the western US, but of course paper logs are easy to fudge the times so you can squeeze more miles in, and that truck would go 85 mph.

So has anyone figured out how to get more miles in a legal 11 hour shift?

Why limit it to an 11 hour shift? With the federal ag exemption drivers can do 2,000 miles in one shift. Well unless they have a heart attack first....

I would like to see regulation allowing us to drive max 12h and no more 750m . I would not be part of nowday's race.

I probably should have remembered that. I drove a few ag loads back in March and April that did have at least a couple 800+ mile days. But those aren't the norm for me. Glad I don't do those very often. My body didn't like those long days with little sleep.

Elogs, Ive not done over 600mi iirc. But Ive never really pushed the limits. Texas HOS I did 590mi with a morning pickup, and 3 drops and had an hour and 8min still on my clock.

Paper, 955mi Tulsa, Ok to Kermit, Tx to home.

1102 miles would be difficult to explain to a DOT officer, even back in the day on paper logs.

    With e-logs I think my max is 670-something in a 65-66mph truck.
