i wonder if the bus was in the left lane, (not unusual for a bus), ticking off another driver, and that driver forced it off the road..???

Could also be a blown steer tire. That said if this was 100% driver error such as texting or the like. I hope he swings. Kids in esentially a school bus are one of those errors you dont deserve a second chance from. If a driver forced him off? Find the driver of the second car and let him do the final dance from a noose literally rather then figureativly. This was mass murder in that case.

“Imagine the fear, the screams and the aftermath when these high school students – many of them freshmen – were surrounded by this chaos,” Hochul said.

Good job comforting the families of the victims, Governor.

Kudos to first responders it sounds like they cleared out the kids in 45 minutes. Hopefully the rest heal properly physically and mentally. Rip to the dead

Bus crashes involving students always hits us in the gut, or the folks that have kids, anyway. Remember the one on I-94 in Wis. or the one in Minnesota,,,I always think of the hours before the crash, whatever they were doing, not a thought about dying on the way home. Bus drivers are the least appreciated operators of public transportation. Essentially on their own. Truck crashes, okay, a load of axxwipe all over the highway, but a bus driver, is responsible for those lives, and as long as we are dependent on that lone human being driver, we can't have zero risk.

NYS just can't catch a break.
After the Ford Excursion stretch in poor condition operated by a shady company took 20 dead in 2018, the NY DOT has been putting every passenger operator under the microscope.

How tight are they enforcing things?
I am a member of an automobile club that among other things collects antique and classic limousines.
Our members in NY are no longer allowed to even register the vehicles there, knowing they will NEVER be used in revenue service or carry any passengers. No exemption for historical occasional use vehicles.

At least it says they were properly licensed and inspected in this case...that limo operation from 2018 was just straight up shady.
