Has anyone tried using sticky putty (3M & Elmers make one) to mount a GPS to the dash? I don't want anything on the windshield and there is a nice spot on the dash next to the QC, but it is a company truck, so no holes allowed.
They make them sand bag/bean bag mounts you throw on the dash. On my pickup I use velcro and there is a perfect flat spot on the dash. It still picks up the signal good. http://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=764574
I just stick the suction cup on the face of the dash (smooth surface... faux wood). I never have a signal problem. Most GPS' are packaged with a disk with sticky foam on one side to stick on the dash and then attach the suction cup to.
there is a new product out. apparently no one can keep it in stock. but home depot is one of the retailers. supposed to be better then super glue and masking tape. it was invented just recently by some students at brigham young university. it was on the local news websight if i can find the story.
I use a thin layer of stick glue on the suction cup to affix it to my faux wood dash. It lasts for a few weeks, and usually only needs to be slightly moistened if it comes undone. It's not permanent and cleans up easily.
