We are driving fully loaded 26ft penske truck up i75n from Tennessee to Kentucky. How do we navigate the strech thru jellico with mountains? If there a better route that would avoid it or would it add several hours to do so? Just nervous and would love some feedback back please. We are moving to lexington Kentucky from Florida.
Moving north and would truly appreciate an experienced trucker advice.

You're driving up 75. It ain't rocket science. You're going to get in traffic jams in Atlanta, Chattanooga, maybe Knoxville. You're going to climb a few hills, none serious. There's not really much you need to know except that you're going to pay a lot more for fuel than usual.

Thank you is there a certain speed to drive down mountain, should I lower it to 4th gear or anything? Just nervous as its top heavy and dont want to flip over.

Don't speed in GA!
Don't ride your brakes while going downhill. We maintain our downhill speed by applying a lot of brake pressure briefly. On the brake hard for 4ish seconds then coast downhill at your comfy speed until you need to slow again.Rideandrepair and austinmike Thank this. -
Much appreciated

Definitely downshift one or two gears or as many as it takes so you don't have to brake too much. It depends on how heavy the van is with all of your stuff in it.
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Park it -- or consider driving at a different time -- if you find that you will be driving in windy conditions (30+ mph).
Especially if your load is top heavy.

You’ll be fine. Just be careful. I drove a 26 foot Uhaul from Arkansas to New Hampshire and it was a piece of cake. These new box trucks are like driving a minivan. If you don’t believe me try looking up all the pictures of people trying to take them through a McDonalds drive thru.
