Just a question for the truckers out there. Anyone ever moved from a state to another and had to change their CDL and everything? Just curious if your company let's you take time off to do all that or do most have to quit (after saving money of course) and complete the move and then get back into work?
Moving state to state?

Takes about 1/2 an hour to half a day. Why would you quit?

It is an easy process most of the time. I have not actually witnessed it, but I have heard stories that some states make you retest. Find out before you go.

They will make you retest for Hazmat I believe.

Check with that states DMV. Illinois requires retesting of everything.

I moved from PA to OH a little over 3 years ago. I had to take the written tests for doubles/triples and tankers for my endorsements, I can't remember if I had to do the airbrakes test or not. Otherwise it was simply turn in the old license and get your new one, no road test. Best bet is to look up the DMV/BMV in the state you are moving to and see what they say.
