Reading another thread the other day I learned of your concerns with IPD liners. Hopefully I don't have those issues. After watching KT3406E videos i respect his work as well. He is a dealer for IPD and I ordered my kit through him, and he gathered up the double squirters for me too. Time will tell if I was a fool or not - well - at least with that decision. I am definetly a fool with other things!

The wide and high isn’t what gets expensive. They tend to frown on excessive ground pressure

Well they have an upside too. The wide hard band at top seal on a crevice seal liner really holds the bottom of the liner better and prevents the liner from rocking which is where a majority of your lower bore stems from. If the block had minor wear already not really enough to fix you really done a solid in my opinion going that way. I believe if you were gonna have problems with ring seating you’d know by now. You’d have some blowby from day one that’s never went away.

Gus has heard my steel top motor and swears it’s different from anything else. Now idk I haven’t really paid attention. And I used the 8869 crown cause it matched nozzle I run as well as the 5KJ 18 degree C design pump. I need to decide what to do with that set up.

I probably would have gone with Cat again, but it kind of pissed me off that they no longer offer a kit and they have to individually order the components.

I’m not a fan of that either. Nor how absolutely hard they make everything. it shouldn’t take typing a 5 page report, going to 3 different counters to get a couple .58 cent o rings.

I will say about IPD, I like their one piece pan gasket, and the gasket/o- rings were definitely all there. Considering the brakesaver, and additional/different gaskets and o-rings for it, I think they have a complete kit. The numbers match Cat numbers too.

I have been using the 1 piece gaskets for 10 years now probably. I still gorilla snot the piss out of them on one side or use aviation glue on one side to hold the gasket to the spacer plate then the pan. I have glued them to both sides of the plate. Grade A m’fer either way to get off. I’m not a fan of any type of sealer as a rule and rather have a poop flingin fight with a mad tribe of hillbilly monkies as use silicone on most anything. Other than the break of front and rear structure then it’s just a trail. That #### like to broke me one time by ending up in places it shouldn’t. Then I got the I told you so speech. Course I’d love to have 1 more of them speeches today. Even better take the 14 foot flat bottom and 25 Johnson to Pickett lake with him. He wouldn’t talk when he was fishing but if you paid attention you could learn plenty. I was gonna post something useful and got side tracked ####. Is that gonna happen more with age?

I agree with Dale, it is going to happen more with age, at least in my experience. But on the bright side, in my opinion it displays a life well lived with many good memories to look back on.

By Gorilla snot, are you meaning the pea-green yellowish stickem stuff Cat used to have? Kinda like liquid welder!
