The FMCSA requires a carrier to build and maintain a driver qualification file. They can be fined for missing data in that file. YES they do at least 3 years.

Yes I know it has to be atleast 3 years. My question is how far back do most companies check for? 3yrs? 5 yrs? 10 yrs?
Thank you for your replies. I am selling my pizza shop in a couple weeks and want to get my CDL but my driving record isn't very clean past 3 years. -
Most 3. The ones that go 5 years or more are premium type jobs like Walmart, UPS, and Abf etc.

When I started with Swift about 5 yrs ago they wanted a 10 yr DMV report. And they will try to hire anyone

They can see your lifetime mvr if they wanted.
FMCSA requirement is 10 years. That's what I was told by my local division.
Actual requirement would be up to the companies insurance.Blackandgold Thanks this.
