Socutruck, your situation sounds a lot like mine. Best of luck in whatever you choose. Just remember, be open to suggestion and take it all with a grain of salt!

hey thanks jasper, i sure will try my best to take it all with an open mind!

your situation similar to mine? well then you know somewhat how i feel and what its like lol well brother feel free to give me some insider tips, info, words of wisdom and anything else you can share (like how much should i be able to make in a couple of years in the industry and so forth helps to know what real people make and not just some stat you read in an article) to help this newbie out!

I eventually want to start my own business as i will never be content working for anyone else so O/O is the way to go for me in a few years....i say maybe 5 years.

so as far as training go's they dont take out much but im sure it all changes when you go first seat. i got my first full trainee ck and 300 bucks - 50 for advance that they charged me 1.25 for the advance and 47 bucks in taxes. so i got a whopping 201.and change. so next week should be a lil better sence i wont have to take an advance. been 3 weeks in training so i hope to finish by the 5th week. cus i started with only 3 days the first week and 4 days the second and 4 the third week. you need 4 weeks with atleast 5 days. i will be heading out sunday night and be back on friday or sat morning. hope that helps. i think after 6 months you can become a trainer so if i stick with this i will do that cus there is more $$$$ in it. and its all about that... lmao i hope to someday do flatbed hauling and i want to go ice road also. or ill go back to to towing and recovery work. :biggrin_255::biggrin_25515:

5 weeks for training? They wanted to test me on my second week of being out with a trainer, but the person that did the upgrade testing was out that week, so i had to wait till the end of the third week.

Thanks for all the comments regarding you guy's training. I am determined to make this work out for me and I enjoy reading that others are having success also...

Does anybody know if PAM will hire you if you have a CDL and didn't go to one of the Driver Solutions schools. If I can get the WIA grant I am going to go to a school here in GA and then apply with PAM.

Well, right now the only thing keeping me from choosing PAM is having to ride a Greyhound to North Little Rock for school. I'd much rather make the 75-mile trek to Conley, GA to train with Central even though I think I'd like to drive for PAM more.

Now if PAM paid for and/or provided a bus ticket at no cost to me (even if it was part of the deductions) I would choose PAM in a heartbeat but I can save myself some serious cash by not having to spend $200 round trip on a bus ticket.

It's about a 9 hour drive for me in my own car but about 12-14 hours on a bus. As bad as CR England is - at least they front your ticket to school.
