I'll be the first to admit I would love to work less and make more.

I've crunched numbers for many different scenarios. I could potentialy do better in a few of them. But not enough to make me change carriers/operations just yet. Better the devil I know than the one I don't. Especially in this current economic climate.

    cynicalsailor and 123456 Thank this.

Been o/o for over four years. The whole time with Crete.

Would choose either Detroit or Cummins pre-egr. Pre-egr Detroit has a very good cost of operation and Cummins had very good power. Cat is on its way out of the off application so parts could be a problem down the road. Benz gets good fuel economy from what I've heard but has reliability issues.

The life of an OTR truck driver> Did it for 15 years, with the same company. I thought I'd retire with them, then I got layed off. Maybe It was God's will. I make more money doing hotshot work and home every night. Go to church on Sunday thank the Lord, for every thing. There is more to life than driving that truck!!!

Amen!!! The problem for me is my home 20...San Antonio,TX. O/O in this area do local and in state runs dirt cheap.

I see you live in Katy. That's a good market for hot shot oil field work. Not the same for SA.
