Three of the four bolts that mount the intake, inlet elbow to the intake, are broke off in the intake. No real surprise, due to it being aluminum and possibly never unbolted. Should I try to remove the broken studs or just replace the intake? My guess is I’ll probably tear more #### up trying to remove them, as it’s pretty corroded. Here’s a pic of intake and elbow. When I took the pic, the elbow should’ve been facing towards the left(front). I’ve found some used intakes but they look different and somewhat shorter, with different elbow.![]()

My personal favorite is the freightliner 1 piece style….looks like it would flow best.
They are all interchangeable as far as the engine is concerned but maybe not compatible with all trucks.
As far as removing the bolts steel bolts in aluminum usually respond very well to heat since aluminum expands so much more than steel. As long as the corrosion hasn’t destroyed the strength of the aluminum it should be good if you can remove the boltsmile marker 27 Thanks this. -
