What’s about the maximum amount of time an engine of this nature, can be run without coolant?

I wouldn’t start it without coolant, but thats me. I’ve seen guys charge up the air tanks, and release the brakes using a shop air compressor, then start a truck to empty a bay, the find a parking spot in the yard and turn off the key.
    Me? Not happening.

I will in some circumstances. Usually 30-45 seconds for me

If the gauge moved up like that, then it’s pushing oil. Fire it up….!!

You’re good on the oil pressure with 10 at cranking speed….as far as the no water situation I had a customer drive a farm tractor to my shop for an overhaul with no radiator and no water in the block….he went about 3 miles….it seems to have caused minimal damage. The liners had obviously been warmer than ideal but other than that there was no detectable damage. It was a 4320 deere if it matters to anyone.
I don’t hesitate to drive my pulling tractor from the shop to the shed… takes a few minutes with no water in it….it’s a “farm stock” tractor and I do run water in it since we use it around the farm for hauling wagons and such…. As dumb as it sounds I’m really not that worried about hurting it but it’s primarily a toy and despite having a decent chunk of change wrapped up in it its not a huge deal if something goes wrong. Equipment I use maybe a minute tops no load running with no water

Fired it up and it started relatively quickly, with 60psi oil pressure. Let it run for 30 seconds. No leaks, so far.

W923 and Big Road Skateboard Thank this.
